Zech and his six Sudanese siblings arrived in Osoyoos in December 2006. We wanted to feature Zech in this our “Thanksgiving” issue, because his journey really gives meaning to this time of the year. Although Zech is Thankful to be in Canada, it is Osoyoos Home Hardware that is THANKFUL to have him as an employee. Zech has accomplished many things in his short time here, his command of the English language improves by leaps and bounds every day, he can assemble barbecues, wheelbarrows, and lawn furniture, etc. (many of us born here can’t follow the directions) so think of the determination he must have had to be able to do these tasks, he has his drivers license, he has taken a fork-lift training course and passed with flying colours, he has gained the respect of many of our customers and his co-workers and most importantly he understands the value of good customer relations. His objective this year is to learn how to operate the cash register.
